It's tempting to play this story somewhat more straight, but the level of hate mail we would get would be just incredible, so let's start by again stating that this is a fan-made effort.

That said, for reasons we'll soon explain, this is the best possible teaser trailer for Marvel's Ant-Man.

Check it out below:

For those who have no idea what just happened, Ant-Man will star Paul Rudd, best known for his comedy work.

Rudd, a regular guest on Conan and before that Conan's previous show Late Night With Conan O'Brien, has been using the clip above -- which comes from the 1988 E.T. knockoff Mac and Me -- for years.

Whenever Rudd appears on the show to promote a new movie, he brings with him a clip from the film as is custom on talk shows. Unfortunately for O'Brien, Rudd always brings the same clip: the above clip from Mac and Me.

The Internet being what it is, someone actually compiled a bunch of these, and it's pretty funny to watch...

And, because why not, Rudd has inspired others to follow his lead, including paralympian Alana Nichols, who was presumably at this point more of a surprise than Rudd:

Ant-Man stars Rudd alongside Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll and more. The first Marvel Studios film to be released following Avengers: Age of Ultron, it will launch Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when it hits theaters on July 17, 2015...around which point you can probably expect to see this clip running on Conan.
