Powers TV Series: First Photo Released

The first image from the upcoming Powers television series has been released online, via USA Today.

The image show's District 9's Sharlto Copley as Christian Walker, and The Following's Susan Heyward as Waker's partner, Deena Pilgrim.

Brian Michael Bendis, acclaimed comic book writer and co-creator of Powers, told USA Today about what a strange journey adapting powers for television has been. Originally intended to air on FX, the network eventually backed away from the project. Sony's PlayStation Network stepped in to bring the project to fruition as its first original series.

"We're getting the best of both worlds," Bendis says. "We're getting a network-budgeted show, and we're getting to dive in as dark and deep as we want to go…I attempt a legitimate amount of zen about it. And then every once in a while, it'll just hit me in the face when I least expect it."

Powers began filming its first 10-episode season in Atlanta a month ago. The series will premiere in December.
