Comedy Central have released a brief preview of South Park's upcoming eighteenth season, which takes aim at the Washington Redskins and owner Dan Snyder.

In the context of the clip, Cartman has opened his own business called The Washington Redskins, using the name and logo of the football team with impunity since their trademark has been pulled.

In the real world, the Redskins' trademark protection was cancelled back in July after the U.S. Patent Office decreed that it was derogatory and offensive, in violation of their policy. That practice is unusual but not totally unprecedented, although a more common reason for a trademark cancellation would be that it either fell into disuse or that the filing was made in bad faith and the original filer did not own the rights to use the trademark.

The spot aired during yesterday's Redskins/Eagles game. South Park returns on Wednesday.

Check out this preview clip from the upcoming season of South Park. All-new episodes premiere Wednesday, Sept. 24th on Comedy Central at 10p ET and next day @ southpark.cc.com!!
