While both ABC's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and AMC's The Walking Dead regularly beat The CW's Arrow in the ratings, the DC Comics adaptation's second season last year was widely considered a big improvement over the first and built it a passionate base of fans and critics who loved the show.

Those fans have spoken in a pair of online polls -- one already over and another over except the crying -- where The Walking Dead came in a distant second to Arrow and S.H.I.E.L.D. was basically a non-factor.

The polls -- one at IGN, another at Zap2It -- gauged the Best Returning Comic Book Show and the Best Genre Series, respectively.

The Zap2It "Fandom Wars" poll is still open today, so anything could theoretically happen, but Arrow has had more than 90% of the vote for several days now in the fourth and final round. To be fair to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., that show didn't even appear in the poll, which started with eight shows including Orphan Black and Game of Thrones and slowly whittled away to this week's showdown between the only comic book adaptations on the list.

IGN's poll was both more specific -- limited to returning comic book adaptations -- and is already complete, with Arrow taking more than 65% of the votes to 23% for The Walking Dead and 11.5% for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. You can see their graph at top.

Next year this time, of course, the field will be much more wide open. Assuming all of the shows get renewed, there will be these three plus Arrow's spinoff The FlashAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s spinoff Marvel's Agent Carter and standalone shows like Gotham and Constantine in their presumptive second seasons.
