Constantine Ratings Rise For the Third Week in a Row

Constantine drew more than 3.5 million viewers on Friday, marking the third consecutive week of higher ratings and the most viewers since the series premiere, according to preliminary overnight numbers provided by NBC.

After premiering to 4.28 million viewers, Constantine dropped to 3.06 million on Halloween; each week since then, it's been higher than the week before, going from 3.14 to 3.47 to 3.54 million.

Here are some more numbers from NBC:

• "Constantine" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) jumped +38% week to week in adults 18-49 (to a 1.1 rating from a 0.8) to hit its highest rating since its series debut  on Oct. 24 (1.4).

• "Constantine" retained 85% of its 18-49 lead-in from "Grimm" (1.3), up from last week's 67% (0.8 vs. 1.2) and its top retention since holding 100% with its series premiere Oct. 28.

• "Constantine" will add substantial audience via time-shifting, increasing last week by +81% when L+3 time-shifted viewing was added to this next-day L+SD rating (from a 0.84 to a 1.52).

The series, from executive producers Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer, has been getting progressively better reviews, and the last two episodes in particular have had closer ties to the comic book source material than the earlier ones, with the fourth episode being a very faithful adaptation of the first two issues of Hellblazer and the fifth episode introducing Jim Corrigan, the detective who will one day become The Spectre.

An initial order of 13 episodes has been bolstered by an order for additional scripts, but Constantine hasn't yet been awarded a full-season (22 episode) pickup.
