There's been an awakening…have you felt it?

Dozens of Youtube videos…all parodying the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer

Since its Black Friday debut, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer has sparked more spoofs, spinoffs, and parodies than you could shake a Wookie at. From (several) LEGO versions to Disney-incorporated endeavors, declaring your favorite trailer is almost as difficult as declaring your favorite Star Wars installment. Luckily, we're not afraid of such a challenge. As we traveled through the Dark Side…and the Light of The Force Awakens' spoof trailers, we declare the true masters of the form.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Parody

Many referenced Marvel's cosmic film this generation's Star Wars, and for good reason. So what's not to love when you combine the two greatest galactic franchises into one super-trailer? Here, the video takes Guardians' best trait—its humor—and inserted into J.J.'s sobering sequence. With Awesome Mix blaring to the sights of the Millennium Falcon, and some funny self-referential title cards to boot, the trailer almost makes us wish that James Gunn could guard the Galaxy Far, Far Away as well.

The George Lucas Special Edition Parody

If gratuitous CGI and special effects are your thing, then do we have the perfect trailer for you. This spoof  simply does what old George would have if had gotten his hands on Abrams' trailer in the post-production process: Fill it with obligatory space creatures, lots of laser beams (like lots), and characters we really didn't want to see. It's like the Nineteen Nineties all over again, complete with a quadruple-bladed, multi-bladed lightsabers that will push millions of toys.

The LEGO Parody

LEGO-ized versions of well, any pop culture property are as earnest of lampoons that an otherwise jaded fan community could ask for. With some great stop-motion animation directing the little bricks, this video has some nice visual gags (that basketball!) and creative uses of Legos for a trailer that's simply inspired by the work that came before it. And we have give an A for effort to the trailer's creator, who spent 22 hours creating and producing this eighty-four second reel.

The Seth MacFarlane Parody

We already loved McFarlane's homage to the Star Wars Mythology with the "Laugh It Up, Fuzzball" series, with parodied the original Star Wars trilogy with MacFarlane's Family Guy characters. MacFarlane lands another bulls-eye with his return to the Family Guy/Star Wars mashup with a trailer that's as witty as it is borderline offensive. Of course, Stewie fits right back into his Sith Lord persona, Chris plays another rebel X-Wing fighter in Poe Dameron, and the wheel-chair bound Joe Swanson is...the roller ball Droid BB8 (remember how we said "borderline offensive?). Factor in the quality animation, and you have a pseudo-sequel to Family Guy's Star Wars saga. It might take a decade or so, but  we can't wait until MacFarlane parodies the new trilogy .

The Wes Anderson Parody

Wes Anderson's quirky, character-driven movies are about as Un-Star Wars as film gets, which is why a Force Awakens parody through the auteur's lens is such an inspired choice. With a low-fi feel and sepia-tones throughout the entire trailer, we actually get an accurate look at what Star Wars might look like under Anderson's direction. John Williams is replaced with artsy french music, and the haunting Andy Serkis narration is thrown away for witty title cards that hipsters would adore. If the video's creator had found a way to work Bill Murray or an Owen brother into the trailer, we would have had a Star War film ready-made for the Brooklyn crowd.
