The look and tone of director Mark Steven Johnson's Daredevil could have been much different, as fans can see in newly-released concept art from the Ben Affleck-starring Marvel Comics adaptation.

The film gives a much darker take on Bullseye, that's for sure, with scarring all around his eye revealing a mangled look to his face. Elektra is more like her comic book counterpart, and Daredevil himself appears to have gone through a few permutations before they settled on the costume they used in the film.

The images were posted to the portfolio of Warren Manser, the concept artist behind the drawings. He didn't provide any context, but certainly it's interesting that a number of the Daredevil designs appear to mirror the "armored Daredevil" look from the '90s.

You can see a side-by-side view of the armored costume from the comics with a similar look from the movie at top.
