Suicide-Squad

When helming a comic book movie, there's really no better way to prepare than by, well, reading some comic books.

Suicide Squad director David Ayer certainly gets that, as evidenced by his recent post on Twitter. With cameras set to roll soon on the DC Comics villain team-up film, Ayer showed that's he's getting ready with the source material that his film will be based on.

In his Tweet, Ayer posted a picture of a trade paperback collection of the New 52's current Suicide Squad series, amongst paperwork with Warner Bros. Not surprisingly, the comic book sat on top of the director's "to-do" pile.

Despite Ayer's playful intent, the post possibly reveals which Suicide Squad comic that the film will draw from. As a longstanding DC Comics property with several different iterations, the Suicide Squad comics could lead the film in several different directions.

So far, all that's confirmed about Suicide Squad is that Ayer plans to make it the comic book equivalent of The Dirty Dozen, and that it will star Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as The Joker, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. Ben Affleck's Batman is also rumored to make a brief appearance in the film, but he isn't confirmed as of yet.

Suicide Squad opens on August 5th, 2016.
