Massive social media buzz surrounding last night's season finale of Constantine didn't translate to a massive uptick in the ratings, but it did once again improve over last week.
Nearly every week, Constantine has done better than the week before, the trouble being that the dip between the premiere and its second week was significant enough that the series had a lot of ground to make up to be in the ratings safe-zone.
Last night's finale inched up 6% in total viewers to 3.1 million, and retained 100% of its audience in the 18-49 demographic from its prior two telecasts.
Constantine failed to get a back nine pickup in its first season, making its thirteenth episode (airing, appropriately enough, on Friday the 13th) the final one of the season. However, NBC has not yet pulled the trigger on a cancellation and showrunners hope that network enthusiasm for the show could mean a second season.
Recent rumors have placed a prospective second season at the NBC-owned cable network Syfy, although the network's Ted A'Zary recently tweeted that he didn't know of any such talks taking place.
