Stan Lee Media is petitioning the Supreme Court to hear its lawsuit making claims to Spider-Man and other character created by the company's co-founder and namesake, Stan Lee.

Stan Lee Media has been fighting this legal battle for eight years. The failed company is hoping to have the Supreme Court overturn the decision of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which called their claims to Lee's creations "simply implausible."

The exact details of the suit are mired in all kinds of legal jargon, but stems from the termination of Lee's original lifetime contract with Marvel, whom he created the characters in question for. Lee signed a new agreement with Marvel, but Stan Lee Media insists that when he did so he handed over the rights to all of his creations to Stan Lee Entertainment, which was later folded into Stan Lee Media.

None of Stan Lee Media's legal initiatives have found success so far. If the Supreme Court rules against them, or simply refuses to hear the case, then maybe that will finally be the end of all this legal drama.
