Mr. Holmes Starring Ian McKellen Gets A July Release Date In The U.S.

Mr. Holmes is getting a United States release this summer. The film will hit theaters in the U.S. on July 17, 2015.

Mr. Holmes is based on the novel A Slight Trick of the Mind, by Mitch Cullin. The film is directed by Bill Condon, and has Ian McKellen playing a 93-year-old Sherlock Holmes. Holmes' mind is degrading, so he decides to set out to finish his last unsolved mystery before it's too late, and takes his housekeeper's young son with him on the adventure.

In addition to McKellen, Mr. Holmes also stars Colin Starkey, Laura Linney, Hattie Morahan, Hiroyuki Sanada and Patrick Kennedy.

Mr. Holmes debuted at the Berlin International Film Festival, and was acquired by Miramax after a showing at the Toronto Film festival. Miramax and Roadside Attractions are teaming for U.S. distribution.
