Bryan Singer recently announced that Kodi Smith-Mcphee would play a young Nightcrawler in X-Men: Apocalypse. The news was followed by the casting of Ben Hardy. While Hardy's "key" role remains undisclosed, his blonde hair has fans speculating that he may be a young Angel. On top of that was the news the Daniel Cudmore was out as Colossus in Deadpool.

That's a lot of recasting in a short period. It seems like the Fox is trying to put a fresh, youthful face on its X-Men movie franchise, which got us thinking about what other character we'd like to see recast and introduced as younger versions of themselves. Here's our top five picks.

jUGGERNAUT

Juggernaut

This is one we almost got in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Juggernaut was included in the Magneto breakout scene in Simon Kinberg's original script, but Singer replaced him in Quicksilver. We may have missed our chance, but we'd still like to see Cain Marko done justice. He appearing in X-Men: The Last Stand, portrayed by Vinnie Jones, but was basically reduced to an internet meme reference. It'd be great to see a younger Cain interact with his stepbrother, Charles Xavier.

Callisto

Callisto

Another character misused by X-Men: The Last Stand (a recurring theme on this list), Callisto was used as a minor villain, played by Dania Ramirez. She mostly fought Storm in the film's fight scenes, but the rivalry between Callisto and Ororo is one of the greatest in X-Men history and deserves way more space than what The Last Stand provided. Introducing a rival teen Callisto at the same time as a new, teen Storm makes all kinds of sense.

Multiple Man

Multiple Man

Eric Dane portrayed the Multiple Man, Jamie Madrox, in X-Men: The Last Stand, but aside from the power set, he could have been anybody. Madrox has one of the greatest character developments in X-Men history, going from background nobody working with Moira MacTaggert on Muir Island to the complex, fan favorite leader of X-Factor Investigations. With news that Fox is working on an X-Men television series, we're hoping that it will X-Factor with Madrox as the lead.

Psylocke

Psylocke

Though she had a bit role in X-Men: The Last Stand, played by Mei Melançon,  Betsy Braddock – a.k.a. Psylocke – is one of the most popular X-Men characters to be continuously passed over for major roles in other media. Even in the X-Men's various animated series, she's been relegated to, at best, guest roles. Sure, Psylocke has one of the most convoluted backstories in all of X-Men history, and that's saying something, but what part of British/Asian psychic ninja doesn't translate to screen? We know she's a character that Kinberg and Singer are interested in using in future films, so we'll just have to hope they find the right place to reintroduce her.

sabretooth

Sabretooth

Played by Tyler Mane in X-Men and Liev Schreiber in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Sabretooth is Wolverine's archenemy. With Wolverine's timeline being altered by the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past, it seems like an opportune time to reintroduce the savage villain as a rival. Logan was in the hands of Mystique, disguised as William Stryker, last we saw. Perhaps Logan and Victor Creed will meet while both are in his/her capture.
