Classic Batman TV series stars Adam West and Burt Ward will star in an upcoming, animated feature film, presumably set in the world of their show, the pair announced at Mad Monster Con this weekend.

The film, timed to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the show's 1966 debut, will be released next year, presumably timed to coincide with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice's theatrical or home video release since such tie-ins are common with DC's animated features.

"You can look forward to a new, animated Batman full-length 90-minute feature coming out on the fiftieth anniversary," Ward said at a panel celebrating the show. "One of possibly two, but for sure one, that Adam and I are going to be doing the voices for."

The world of the Batman TV series has been revisited quite a bit recently; following an agreement struck between Warner Bros. and Fox, who had been battling for decades over the series' rights, things like toys, action figures and other tie-in merchandise started becoming available in 2013.

A digital-first comic book series, Batman '66 by Jeff Parker, Mike Allred and others, was released and continues online. Finally, late last year, the complete TV series was finally released to DVD and Blu-ray for the first time.

Besides appearing on the TV series, West and Ward played the Caped Crusader and his trusty ward  in The Legends of the Superheroes and animated series including The New Adventures of Batman and Superfriends.

No word on whether any of the other still-living Batman actors might reprise their roles.
