After a notable silence on the issue of shipping their characters during an appearance on Talking Dead Sunday, we didn't expect either Melissa McBride or Norman Reedus to come right out with a comment on the matter this wee.

That's what Reedus did in The Hollywood Reporter, though, saying that while he isn't opposed to hooking up Daryl and Carol, he's not totally for it, either.

"I've had lots of talks with Scott [Gimple] about it," the actor said. "I like our relationship how it is. We don't have to make out to be who we are. We're kindred spirits; there's a brother-sister bond there that's almost stronger than a lovey-dovey bond. I'm not totally against it, but I'm not totally for it. It's tricky. Once you do that, it's there forever. To be honest, I'm not begging for it, and I'm not opposed to it."

Of course, There are a good number of people who feel very passionately that the pair ought to be together. Heck, when we once described their relationship as like that of a brother and sister, our commenters objected very vocally. That said, it seems as though Reedus was leaning toward Daryl and Beth (whom he said had something in the air between them) as much or more than Daryl and Carol.

That being the case, it may be a while before he's ready for Daryl to move on completely from his guilt over how Beth's story ended.

The Walking Dead returns in October. Between now and then, keep an eye out for the first season of Fear The Walking Dead.
