In a flashback, a young Sally quickly packs a bag of luggage and gets on a bus, looking around nervously, opening the ninth episode of Bloodline.

John (Kyle Chandler) goes to the bait shop where Wayne and Rafi, pretending to prepare for a fishing trip. He returns to the office with details, only to find that the DEA is building a case on Wayne as well. John persuades one of their men to share his details, where he reveals Rafi and Eric as suspected men.

Afterwards, John meets up with Danny (Ben Mendelsohn) to ask if he's seen Eric in a while, but Danny claims not to have hung out with him in some time. John also shares Diana's concerns that Danny was being weirdly aggressive the night that he and John got drunk. Danny agrees to chill in an attempt to keep the peace.

That night, Kevin (Norbert Leo Butz) takes a baseball bat to the car of Nick Widmark – the man whom Kevin believes broke into his office, beat him, and stole his money.

Danny and Sally (Sissy Spacek) go out for a nice meal together, and he asks her what she thinks about expanding their dining services to other locals who aren't staying at the hotel. In the morning, he gets an urgent call from the boss, asking him to make an unexpected delivery. He packs a bag and gives it to Carlos, who drops it off after driving some guests to the airport in a company van.

In the afternoon, Danny bonds with Jane when she gets home from school, showing her how to fillet a fish and chatting about cooking. Sally sits outside, remembering her bus trip long ago and checking out a bridal magazine. She's joined by Meg (Linda Cardellini), who's skeptical of Danny's dining change plans.

Diana (Jacinda Barrett) is annoyed to find that Danny has been spending time with Jane. She's not satisfied with John's answer that he talked to Danny about it, and Danny totally "gets it," nor is she happy to learn that Danny probably never got a job cooking, after she and John loaned him some money to go to cooking school.

Danny visits Diana at work, where he apologizes but then ticks her off again with his wording. That night, she tells John about the incident and adds that she did some research into the school they paid for. Danny only attended for half a semester; the rest of the money is unaccounted for.

At the hotel that day, Danny gets his latest payment from his shady bosses. He proceeds to immediately stuff the cash in an envelope and send it to (presumably) the same source he's been mailing all of his cash and checks. John followed him to the post office and surveyed from outside.

John finally looks into Danny's updated criminal record at work. He was arrested semi-recently for possession of prescription drugs, was bailed out by someone named "Beth," and worked at a restaurant in Miami.

Next, Danny goes to Meg's office and asks her to stop talking to their mother about his plans for the business. When she resists – he gets increasingly angry, mocking her for being the "perfect daughter." She tells him to leave, and he goes, adding that he could "go a lot further."

Nick storms into Kevin's office, correctly assuming who destroyed his car, and says he will be filing a restraining order. Kevin says he will do the same.

John goes to the restaurant where Danny worked, though it's now completely empty. A local business owner thinks there was some sort of a kitchen fire. When John shows him a picture of Danny, the man says Danny was the head chef, or something along those lines.

He later meets with Beth, who explains that Danny had stolen from a pharmacy and attempted to sell the drugs with plans to use that money on his restaurant. She thinks that some of his "business partners" might have been the ones to torch it. Danny afterwards went on a bender, doing a bunch of different drugs and hallucinating Sarah.

Beth says that people are still coming by, looking for Danny and his money. She tells John that Danny has an apartment nearby, which John stops at to check out. It's been untouched for weeks. He opens one of Danny's many pieces of mail and finds it stuffed with cash.

Kevin talks to Meg that night, who doesn't remember what happened to Danny after Sarah was killed. She wonders who convinced them all to lie to the police, but Kevin doesn't remember. Danny is shown listening to her interview in the truck again. The detective asks how she knows about the car accident, and she replies that John told her.

The next day, Meg, Marco, and Sally are having drinks when Danny and Chelsea (Chloe Sevigny) join them. Danny says all he knows about romance is that you've got to be mysterious and "have secrets," hinting that Marco (Enrique Murciano) doesn't know something about Meg. She confronts Danny and says she would rather reveal the truth to Danny herself than live in fear of her brother.

Danny and Sally share a joint and reminisce. She reveals that she actually met Robert when she was still 17 years old, when she and her friends would convince of-age men to buy them liquor. When Robert was transferred to Key West, she followed him there to marry him without telling her parents. She explains, "When you have no other choice, you run away."

Sally's flashback continues on the bus. She pulls out a photo of herself, Robert, and the kids on the beach.

The episode ends with Eric, who is pulled over while driving. He's taken to the station. John sits down to question him, saying, "Let's talk about Danny."
