A new report claims that Scott Eastwood is not playing Steve Trevor in Suicide Squad and the role is still up for grabs in the Wonder Woman solo film.

Last month, we all learned that Scott Eastwood (Fury) landed a role in David Ayer's Suicide Squad. Shortly after that, El Mayimbe of Latino Review posted a scoop claiming that Eastwood was making a cameo as Colonel Steve Trevor, who is best known in comics for being Wonder Woman's handler/love interest.

Several days ago when director Michelle MacLaren (replaced by Patty Jenkins) departed the Wonder Woman solo film, which will star Gal Gadot (Batman v Superman), Variety provided some additional information on the role of Steve Trevor.

Sources tell Variety that test offers were set to go out to four actors for one of the male leads films on Monday. It had been rumored that the role Scott Eastwood had nabbed for "Suicide Squad" was Steve Trevor, the love interest of Wonder Woman, but sources now say that is not true and that the four actors testing would be for the role of Trevor. - Justin Kroll

That's a bit of a surprise as Eastwood shares an uncanny resemblance with Trevor and the character would fit perfectly in Suicide Squad. Trevor's pro-superhero beliefs make for a nice contrast against fellow-government employee Amanda Waller, who views metahumans as dangerous.

Suicide Squad is scheduled for release on August 5, 2016.
