Months ago, there were rumors that Zack Snyder's much-hyped reinvention of the Batmobile would convert into a flying vehicle in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice -- and it looks entirely possible that the just-released trailer for the film has provided fans with some evidence to support that claim.

You can see the car above, complete with the bat-wing-like panels that hang over the top of it.

Where else do you see this design? Well, on the back of a plane we see firing shots a little earlier in the ad.

So...is this the same vehicle?

On further examination, now that Warner Bros. has released a downloadable, high-resolution version of the trailer to the press, we're going to say...maybe? My gut says no, but it's very possible.

The most convincing part of it isn't even the "wings" on the back, but the axel below the plane, which looks very much like the one seen in set photos of the Batmobile. Further, the body of the plane doesn't seem much like it's deep enough to store landing gear and there's no other wheels visible than those which might be hidden by the rockets if that were the Batmobile.

As you can see on the Batmobile above (if you look very very closely and my eyes aren't deceving me), there vents between the tires that could, at least in theory, move out and over to become the source of heat and light needed to propel the vehicle in the air. There is also what appears to me to be a traditional tailpipe like one might see on a car directly in the center of the plane above, between the wing-looking panels on top of it.

The problem, then, is the body. The front of the plane above simply doesn't look like the front of the Batmobile to me, and given Batman's history of having bat-themed boats, planes, motorcycles and the like in previous film adaptations and comics, it's hard to convince myself that a some aesthetic similarities make two Bat-vehicles "the same." The only reason it even occurred to me was the early rumors, but there have been as many of those that didn't pan out as there have been ones that did with this particular film.

The tailpipe and vents mentioned above also don't match the ones we've already seen in an officially-released photo of the back of the new Batmobile. The vents on the plane are thick and wide, the tailpipe either square or at least circular. The tailpipe above has a more crescent-shaped appearance the vents are very narrow.

What do you think? Is that the Batmobile in flight, another bat-vehicle or something else entirely?
