In a move that's not particularly surprising, actor Michael Douglas says that his forthcoming Marvel Studios film Ant-Man shares some DNA with the studio's massive 2014 hit Guardians of the Galaxy.

"I have not seen it yet," Douglas admitted to Collider when quizzed about the film, which comes out in August. "I've just been doing looping and ADR stuff, and they've run some sequences. It's a lot of fun to see it. It's much more like Guardians of the Galaxy, with the humor. It's just funny, against all of this grandiose stuff, that there's Ant-Man. It's getting a great response."

Despite being considered a big risk for the studio, Guardians defied expectations to become the highest-grossing film Marvel has ever made that didn't star Iron Man. They did so with a blend of an auteur director with indie cred, humor, heart, a kick-ass soundtrack and a band of misfit characters nobody had ever heard of.

Ant-Man has some of those things, certainly, although their indie auteur was kicked to the curb before production started and there's only a couple of hero characters in the film, which also stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly.
