Angry fans on the Internet still start pointless fights in nearly every comment thread about Marvel versus DC, but Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon has reiterated his desire to bridge the gap a bit...by directing a DC movie.

In an interview with IGN,Whedon said, "Sure. I'd be like 'I have all these joke ideas.' And they'd be like 'No, we don't do that here.' I desperately wanted to do a Batman film – who doesn't? And I wanted to do Wonder Woman. I was a Marvel kid growing up, but I was always DC-curious. And I see myself on the spectrum in between."

Whedon's Wonder Woman script never made it anywhere, making it one of the most famous unproduced superhero scripts in movie history. Meanwhile, he joked about the current film, which he likely didn't have the opportunity to even discuss since he was under contract to Marvel.

"I worked really hard on that movie and it meant a lot, but I don't know if what I was trying to do would fit in with what their vision is," Whedon said. "I'm excited to see it so I just want them to make it so I can see it!"

Avengers: Age of Ultron is in theaters Friday.
