Disney and Marvel Studios is calling the opening weekend box office of Avengers: Age of Ultron at $187.7 million. This is lower than early estimates that had the film setting a new opening weekend box office record or even last night estimates that put the film at $195 million.

It's possible that Disney is playing it conservative, and there could be a higher number released on Monday. However, it looks almost certain that Avengers: Age of Ultron will not beat the opening weekend box office record set by the first Avengers movie, which grossed $207.4 million on its opening weekend back in 2012.

Even though it's got to be disappointing for Disney and Marvel to not set a new record, they can take solace in the fact that they now have the top three opening weekends of all time at the domestic box office. The Avengers first with $207.4 million, Avengers: Age of Ultron second with $187.8 million, and Iron Man 3 with $174.1 million.
