R2-D2 Unleashed In New Stop Motion Lego Fan Film

Compared to the likes of Luke and Anakin Skywalker, R2-D2 has always filled the faithful sidekick role in the Star Wars saga. A new stop motion animated short from Brotherhood Workshop, "R2-D2 Unrestrained," gives R2 the lead role he's always deserved, as a gun-toting, violent action hero.

The video is animated using Lego figures, and recreates R2's encounter with the Jawas on Tatooine with a very different outcome than what occurs in the film.

R2-D2 returns in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, opening December 18.
