While there isn't a DC Universe behind it like they've got in Arrow and The Flash, The CW's iZombie might be the series that rewards close viewing the most.

Its dialogue and the captions given during scene transitions are chock full of pop culture, pop music and other references meant to keep your brain engaged. And while tonight may have been a little less so than usual (after all, the finale was pretty harsh), there were still plenty.

So...what did we see? What did we miss? Read on...!

Blaine's World

The title of the episode is an obvious wink and a nod to Wayne's World, the famous Saturday Night Live sketch and film franchise.

"Time is on My Side"

This one is pretty self-evident since he name-dropped Jagger while saying it, but Blaine makes a reference to the classic Rolling Stones tune "Time Is On My Side."

"...A monster, which incidentally I am."

In the episode, Liv tells Ravi that she was demoralized by Peyton looking at her "like I was a monster, which incidentally I am."

It sounded familiar...!

In the song "Re: Your Brains" by Jonathan Coulton, the zombie who is dictating the song sings, "I'm not a monster, Tom...well, technically I am."

Meet the New Boss

Another classic rock reference -- this time from The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again."

"I'm Kickstarting this bitch."

That's what the bum tells Cameron; it's likely a wink-and-a-nod joke about the fact that iZombie showrunner Rob Thomas turned to the popular crowdfunding site Kickstarter to partially finance Veronica Mars, the feature film base on his cult-hit TV series.

Blue Velvet

In the small-town diner with all the red in its color scheme, "Blue Velvet" playing so prominently in the scene feels a little reminiscent of David Lynch, who directed Blue Velvet and also Twin Peaks.

Bloodbath and Beyond

The title of the final chapter of the season is a reference to the brick-and-mortar retailer Bed, Bath and Beyond. And one of my favorite pieces of wordplay of 2015.
