Jurassic World opened its gates this weekend, 22 years after Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park made its debut. In a world or reboots, World breaks the trend as a continuation of the continuity Jurassic Park established way back in 1993.

Unsurprisingly, the new-age film was filled with honorable nods to the classic Jurassic Park, which we've unearthed like the best archaeologists. But be warned if you haven't seen Jurassic World yet, as spoilers do follow.

JWloweryshirt

Lowery's T-Shirt

It's no surprise that Jake Johnson from New Girl played the part of a geeky, comic-relief character. What was a bit surprising and delightful was the shirt he wore throughout the movie - one with the Jurassic Park logo on it. Claire claimed the shirt was in poor taste and Lowery agreed, acknowledging that people died 20 years ago, but still insisted he wanted to wear the shirt.

JPgoggles

Night Vision Goggles

Those very same goggles featured in Jurassic Park, specifically by the kids when they were about to encounter a T-Rex, are still alive! Well...they still exist. Doubtful they would work 20 years later, but the garage full of old Jurassic Park equipment first found by Gray and Zach, then later by Owen and Claire, had the night vision goggles from Jurassic Park! Gray even picked them up and looked at them. A great nod to the franchise's origin.

JPhammond

Spare No Expense

Hammond's most famous line - "Spare no expense!" is not extinct. While flying Claire around in the helicopter, Masrani referenced Hammond when he quoted him with the famous line. The two shared the line, but unfortunately for Masrani, the two didn't share the same Jurassic fate.

JP10000

10,000 Volts

Remember that time when Tim got shocked by 10,000 volts? Us, too. The fence where the group in Jurassic Park had to climb in order to escape some dino-peril made a return to the Jurassic cinematic universe, at least for a glimpse. It was overrun with trees and weeds but it's still on the island! Fans of the original surely appreciated the Easter Egg.

JPjeep

Jurassic Park Jeeps

Perhaps the most blatant reference of them all is the Jurassic Park 1992 Jeeps Wrangler's Gray and Zach hot-wired while fleeing from the Indominous Rex. Although obvious, it was still a tasteful reference to Jurassic Park and not too in-your-face. More simply, it reminded us appropriately that this is the same island where Jurassic Park was 20 years ago.

JPgates

Jurassic Park Gates

Still fleeing the Indominous Rex, we got a look at the worn down gates to the original Jurassic Park in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it instance. The audiences who were children when watching Jurassic Park were immediately tossed into a time machine.

Jurassic World is now playing in theaters.
