Grrl Scouts Pilot Released Online

A new short film based on Jim Mahfood's cult-hit comic book series Grrl Scouts was released online yesterday as part of the short film spotlight series Incubator.

Launched 20 years ago, Grrl Scouts was key to building Mahfood's reputation as a talented visual storyteller and, along with some early licensed hits at Oni Press, put the artist on the map for mainstream audiences.

In the short, when an evil society sweeps through their town, three small-time weed dealers must untangle a vast conspiracy to save the world and keep the party going.

"The twentieth anniversary is a huge deal," saidMahfood. "The characters and this universe have been with me for twenty years and theGrrl Scouts are part of this weird universe I've created, which is sort of this hyper-stylized, punk vibe."
