Lucy 2 Confirmed To Be In Development

Lucy 2, a sequel to last year's surprise action hit starring Scarlett Johansson, is now in development.

The announcement came during CineEurope 2015 this week, where the film's producer, EuropaCorp, announced their upcoming slate of films scheduled and in- development.

Lucy followed a character who, after exposure to a powerful drug, becomes enhanced with superhuman and supernatural abilities. With the power of telekinesis, telepathy, and more, Lucy hunted down the men who wronged her. The film also starred Morgan Freeman as a neuro-scientist. While reviews for Lucy weren't great—averaging a 66% "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes--the film earned a healthy global box office total of $458,863,600. A sequel would likely be hinge on Johansson's involvement however, as the first film was mostly a vehicle for the movie star.
