Yesterday at the Terminator Genisys press junket, Arnold Schwarzenegger was asked about the status of Legend of Conan.

Last time audiences saw Arnie as the loincloth-wearing, broadsword-wielding barbarian was in Richard Fleischer's 1984 film Conan The Destroyer. Queen Jehnna (Olivia d'Abo) offered Conan the opportunity to rule her kingdom with her, but he rejected the offer to go in search of his own kingdom. We know from the epilogue in 1982's Conan The Barbarian that Conan did find his own kingdom, but he looked like a miserable S.O.B. while sitting on his throne.

"I was hoping to do another one and I was hoping that the idea of Conan having been king for a long time, then just threw it all away and went into retirement and went off into the mountains," Schwarzenegger said (via nerdreport). "That whole idea always appealed to me. Then of course he gets asked back because of some hideous and unbelievable things that are happening to the kingdom. So that's when the battle begins again."

Schwarzenegger said the script "turned out really great," but "it needs some tweakage." He'll give Conan more of his attention once he completes his press requirements for Terminator Genisys. He likes to focus on one project at a time.

Legend Of Conan could begin filming later this year.
