In a week full of The Walking Dead news and images (and come Friday - a trailer) we have now gotten our first look at Rick Grimes from the upcoming sixth season.

The image, released by Entertainment Weekly, shows Rick Grimes at an intersection, much like the metaphorical intersection we saw him at to conclude the fifth season. The setting looks to be fresh off of Rick's execution of Pete Anderson based on the bandages and cuts seen on his face which are consistent with his appearance to end season five. No time jump this off-season? Maybe not. Seems probable and since Chandler Riggs isn't growing up insanely fast anymore the production team might not need to use a time jump to explain that change in his appearance.

But what is Rick doing in this photo besides looking like his clean cut self from the first season? More importantly - what is he not doing? He's NOT wearing the constable uniform Deanna had him sporting in Alexandria. Maybe it's clear he is the leader at Alexandria now and he doesn't need a badge to enforce it. The big gun in his hand probably doesn't hurt either. He's also NOT in the driver's seat. He and some buddies must be out scouting for some reason. Wolves? Scavengers? Saviors? Supply run? It's anybody's guess.

The Walking Dead returns this October but for more news and updates, stay tuned to ComicBook.com, as we head out to San Diego Comic Con 2015 to bring you the latest from their panel on Friday.
