Arrow's Guggenheim: Damien Darhk is Pure Evil

When Arrow returns in the fall, incoming Big Bad Damien Darhk will be more completely evil than villains we've seen previously on the series, according to showrunner Marc Guggenheim.

In Arrow, as with most popular fiction, the writers have a tendency to write the villains as "the heroes of their own stories," Guggenheim said, acknowledging that almost nobody believes themselves to be evil.

But, he told Entertainment Weekly, "That's not the case with Damien. He's not nearly as moral. We wanted a villain who was pure evil because we've never really done that on the show before. That's what Damien represents. He's the prince of darkness."

Arrow returns in October, airing Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
