Idris Elba To Be Interesting, Complex Star Trek Villain According To Simon Pegg

From the press tour for Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, Simon Pegg is teasing Idris Elba's Star Trek Beyond villain as a nuanced character.

"It's a really interesting, complex character," Pegg told MTV News. Pegg is co-writing the film's screenplay, in addition to playing Scotty, and went on to say that fans should expect something quite different that Benedict Cumberbatch's Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness. "Only because it would be a retread. What we don't want to do is have the same kind of villain with the same motivation."

Principal photography has begun on the third film in Paramount's rebooted Star Trek timeline, which will release during the franchise's 50th anniversary year.
