WWE Hall of Fame Superstar, Roddy Piper, has passed away at the age of 61.

Just a month and a half after losing wrestling legend, and fellow WWE Hall of Famer, Dusty Rhodes, the world of professional wrestling has lost another one of its most famous personalities. Born Roderick Toomes, a Canadian wrestler who used his Scottish family roots as a character trait and became one of the biggest heels of the 1980's.

Piper joined the WWE/F back in 1983, and was immediately catapulted to main even status with a rivalry with the then face of the company, Hulk Hogan. Piper started what is considered the first of "talk show segments" in wrestling, The Piper's Pit, a format that is still used today.

Despite never having had won a world championship, he was still a fan favorite and and won numerous championships, 34 in total, across numerous promotions and became a B-movie horror icon with the cult hit They Live.

Piper set the mold for what a heel, or bad guy, should be in professional wrestling. He was voted number 1 in the top 50 Villains of The WWE. He is survived by his wife, Kitty, four children, and one grandchild.
