The fifth Mission: Impossible movie, Rogue Nation, debuted at an estimated $56 million this weekend, taking the top spot in the box office and more than doubling its next closest competitor, Vacation, which made $14 million.

That doesn't mean Vacation -- which cost about $30 million to make -- was a flop. Anticipating a big opening from Mission: Impossible, they opened their film on Wednesday and took in an estimated $7 million before the weekend got here, so they've already made more than 2/3 of their budget back. And, of course, big summer comedies tend to have long legs provided word-of-mouth is good.

Word-of-mouth on Adam Sandler's video game/alien invasion comedy Pixels was dreadful, though, and it made just $10.4 million this weekend, a nearly 60% drop from its already-mediocre opening.

Both Ant-Man with $12.8 million and Minions with $12.1 million held over to outpace Pixels' second week.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, both Vacation and Pixels earned less than 25% positive reviews, although more than half of the audience had positive reviews for both. Check out Comicbook.com's list of top grossing movies worldwide.
