Witches of East End actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum has been cast in the recurring role of Lucy Lane on CBS's Supergirl.

In the comics, Lucy is the sister of Lois Lane and one of a number of DC character to use the name Superwoman after her father's political allies gave her a simulation of Kryptonian abilities.

She's described on TV as "brash, funny and successful in her own right. In keeping with DC Comics lore, she will also be an ex-girlfriend of Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), Kara's new CatCo media conglom colleague."

The relationship between Lucy Lane and Jimmy Olsen is a long-running subplot in the Superman books, and something that was played up especially in the post-Crisis era. In most versions of the mythology, Lucy is Lois' younger sister, and the one who got less attention from her parents since Lois was such a dominant personality. In the pre-Crisis, Lucy was once blind before having her eyesight inadvertently restored when Bizarro exploded and some of the "dust" that composed his body got on her. That story was repeated in 1986's The Man of Steel reboot.

Dewan-Tatum joins Chris Browning as villain Reactron and Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord in the new season, which debuts Monday, October 26, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT, before moving into its regular time slot Mondays at 8.

Before joining the cast of Witches of East End, Dewan-Tatum starred in a number of low-budget movies, including The Grudge 2. She was featured in a number of episodes of The Playboy Club and American Horror Story. She married G.I. Joe and Gambit star Channing Tatum in 2009.
