EXCLUSIVE: Rob Liefeld Shares His Five Favorite Deadpool Trailer Moments
Today’s a big day for Rob Liefeld. Deadpool, his iconic comics creation, finally opened his [...]
The Triple Head Gun Shot
The trailer's showstopper is the most hyper violent and defining shot in Deadpool. It perfectly accentuates his finesse at killing and as a mercenary. And let's be honest, Director Tim Miller shot and framed this for maximum awesomeness! And that blood splatter! It's so amazing. I've frozen that shot of Deadpool falling and shooting probably over a million times. It's been said so many times, but it's worth repeating, how great does that costume look on camera?!

Weasel's exclamation on Wade's scarred appearance is the trailer's top laugh-out-loud moment. My kids have watched this sequence 100 times since San Diego Comic-Con. I'm so happy for Joe Kelly that his interpretation of Weasel is fully embodied by the brilliance of Silicon Valley's own T. J. Miller! The glimpse we get of Ryan and Wade post-workshop is just a taste of how heinous he appears in the film.
prevnextColossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead
Since reading the script five years ago, I have absolutely loved all of Colossus' interactions with Deadpool. The dynamic that he and Negasonic bring to the film is an example of how fresh and unpredictable this movie is, and just how creative and inspired writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are with the story. This is especially true knowing that neither character has ever shared an adventure with Deadpool in the comic books before. The same goes for Gina Carano's Angel Dust. I like how new this story feels for Deadpool. The interaction between these characters is ripe with laughs and intrigue. Seeing how Tim Miller depicts Colossus, bigger, thicker and stronger than he's ever appeared before, just blows me away. Fans should get very excited about Colossus in Deadpool!
prevnextThe Green Lantern Dig
This is pure Ryan Reynolds gold. It shows why he is so perfect and brilliant, and embodies Deadpool like no one else! The bold delivery of that line had Hall H in an absolute uproar. In my mind, it puts 2011's Green Lantern where it belongs, and redirects the focus on Ryan's future with Deadpool! The crack is so loaded on so many levels. I love it.
prevnextWade and Vanessa
After Hall H, I told [Director] Tim [Miller] that I thought the first 25 seconds had so much heart. The segment establishes Wade's unique situation and his motivation beautifully. I wasn't prepared for how deep the Wade and Vanessa bond would dig in that brief window of time, but man it totally sucks you, immediately! The chemistry between Ryan and Morena Baccarin is apparent right there at the jump. Their story drives the whole film!
