The Walking Dead has apparently launched an expansive viral campaign centered on the "Packages From Woodbury" circulated earlier this month.

Via Twitter, a new phone number is making the rounds -- 912-307-3075 -- which fans can call to hear a recorded message:

The following message is transmitted at the request of the National Emergency Hotline. An unknown event is underway across the Eastern United States. Residents of Florida, South Carolina and GA are instructed to shelter in place, turn off all lights, lock all doors and remain quiet for their own safety. Citizens are advised to relocate to the most secure areas of their residences. Please remain calm, and check back tomorrow for continued updates.

The phone number is registered to Hazelhurst, GA, but appeared on Twitter with the #PackageFromWoodbury hashtag, making it clear that it's related to both The Walking Dead and the earlier viral stunt. The last line -- check back tomorrow -- indicates that they'll keep updating the line.

This isn't unique to The Walking Dead, of course; at least as early as 1999, the movie Magnolia had a toll-free number fans could call to hear what was supposedly the sales line for the "self-help" products promoted by Tom Cruise's character from the film. More recently, Constantine had a call-in number where fans could hear the title character's answering machine, including a sly reference to Swamp Thing.

The Walking Dead Season 6 premieres on AMC on October 11. For fans who can't wait that long, Fear The Walking Dead debuts later this month.
