Gaiman's How To Talk To Girls At Parties, Starring Elle Fanning, Acquired By A24

A24 has acquired the U.S. rights to the film adaptation of Neil Gaiman's How to Talk to Girls at Parties.

Production on the film starts in November, with John Cameron Mitchell on board to direct and Elle Fanning, Nicole Kidman, and Alex Sharp set to star. Mitchell co-wrote the screenplay with Philippa Goslett. Nicho Muhly, Jamie Stewart of Xiu Xiu, and Matmos are signed on to produce original music for the film. Gaiman will executive producer, with Howard Gertler, Iain Canning, and Emile Sherman producing.

Gaiman's original short story won both the Hugo Award and the Locus Award for Best Short Story in 2007. Set in late 1970s London, How to Talk to Girls at Parties follows shy, punk teen Enn and his friends, Vic and John, as they sneak into a party, where they meet a group of mesmerizingly beautiful young girls. Enn falls hard for one of the girls, named Zan. Its only later that he discovers Zan and her friends are from another planet, leading to conflict between Enn's group of young punks and Zan's colony.
