Independence Day: Resurgence Comic Book Prequel Announced

Titan Comics to publish Independence Day: Resurgence comic book prequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The comic will be "a rich psychological prison drama," that will take place after the events of Roland Emmerich's 1996 blockbuster. Editor Steve White told THR it will be "a golden opportunity to segue nicely into next year's blockbuster sequel by taking the mythos of the original and maybe adding a little darkness to it."

At this time, there are no details as to who will write or illustrated the series, nor is there a title or a release date.

Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet.
