In tonight's premiere of The Walking Dead, Rick kept Morgan isolated for a bit, in order to evaluate his character and whether or not he'll be a good fit for the Alexandria community.

Prior to letting him become a resident, he asked Morgan, "Where did you learn that?" in reference to his ability to use the walking stick as a weapon.

"A friend," Morgan told Rick, adding "After everything." A friend after all of it... Who could that possibly be? It definitely isn't one of those Wolves Morgan made friends with in the season five finale.

I've got a pretty firm guess: Paul "Jesus" Monroe.

In the comics, Jesus comes around and connects the Alexandrians to other communities. Why do I believe he is Morgan's friend who taught him how to use that stick as a weapon? Besides the fact that Tom Payne has been cast for the character and will be appearing this season, Jesus is almost a ninja, himself. The character in the comics has used several types of objects as weapons, including sticks like Morgan's. His introduction may be altered a bit on the series for the purposes of explaining how Morgan came to value life as much as he does, and more importantly, how he became so good at dispatching threats with a weapon we wouldn't otherwise deem lethal! As for who took one of Morgan's protein bars - beats me.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 PM EST on AMC.
