The youngest member of the Star Wars Rebels crew, Ezra, is coming into his own in season two. After a turning point in late season one saw him obtaining his own lightsaber crystal and building his own Jedi weapon (guided in the Force by none other than Yoda!), the young padawan has been through a lot in a very short time. But with training from his master Kanan and his other mentors like Ahsoka Tano, Ezra is starting to grow into quite the powerful young hero.

"I kind of walk around with a little more swagger now, naturally, because Ezra does," voice actor Taylor Gray told ComicBook.com during a New York Comic Con interview. "It makes sense, because not many people can say, 'yeah, I fought Darth Vader.' So that's in your pocket every time you go into the booth. I used to hold a pen when I was wielding a lightsaber, during the first season, and now I'm holding a couple more, because I feel like I'm a little bit stronger with it."

That technique, of acting with props and movement, is something he shares with Freddie Prinze, Jr., who voices Kanan, and newcomer Sarah Michelle Gellar, who also mentioned doing that during a press conference.

"It's nice to have that 'lightsaber' there, and it adds to the character," Gray explained.

As Ezra grows, he'll also meet new challenges, including finally finding out exactly what happened to his parents and where they've been all this time, something he says will surprise fans.

"We see this cocky, cavalier kid who he could go through anything, it seems like, and really handle it and make light of it. He's not scared of anything, he's fearless. The one thing that can really hurt him is his parents. There are some episodes that get very deep and very dark," Gray teased. "As an actor, it was my favorite thing to do to this point in the show. I can't wait to see the episodes to see how they play out. Fans will be surprised, and it'll be nice to see a different side of the show."

And about those multiple mentors. We've seen Ahsoka come to the rescue in clips and trailers - but if she and Kanan tussled, who would come out on top?

"I'm Taylor, and I'm Ezra, and I believe Kanan would," he said, though with a small caveat, "because I would be there to help him out!"

Gray, a newcomer to the Star Wars family as an actor, has also been a newcomer to Star Wars fandom, as he hadn't seen or gotten into the series before taking the job.

"I didn't know as much about Ahsoka [as fans and castmates], and I've asked Dave [Filoni] so many questions now, 'how would he interact with Ahsoka?' After he sees her fight the Inquisitors he realizes, 'oh, this chick can kick some real butt, and I can't do that yet - I haven't seen Kanan do that.' So he has mad respect for her, because she's a very powerful girl, so it's hard to not say Ahsoka. But my heart says Kanan."
