According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pom Klementieff has been cast in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

She'll play a "key role" in the film, but THR can only add: "Marvel conducted a wide search for its mystery part, which called for an Asian actress, doing several rounds of chemistry reads."

The 29-year-old French actress made her Hollywood debut in 2013 when she played Haeng-Bok in Spike Lee's Oldboy remake. Outside of that, she has spent most of her career appearing in international films like Loup (2009) and Sleepless Night (2011).

Okay, so who could she be playing? Mantis seems like a strong possibility. The German/Vietnamese character has ties to Vision, Scarlet Witch and the Kree. She's been a member of both The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Who else? Moondragon. She's a powerful telepath, master martial artist, some telekinetic abilities, and has an unhealthy superiority complex. She's a loner at heart, however, she has a sizable portion of her time on superhero teams, like Defenders, The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy.

James Gunn (Slither, Super), director of 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, will return to write and direct the sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
