Supergirl: Five Questions Raised By "Stronger Together"
The world of Supergirl was fleshed out pretty significantly in this week's episode, but for every [...]
HOW LONG HAS SUPERMAN BEEN OPERATING?
Superman is beloved, he's trusted, he's the gold standard of superheroes.
So, clearly, they aren't taking a page out of Man of Steel, where he's still pretty much a rookie.
That said, Clark and Lois are also well enough known that Cat makes a comment about them and expects her newsroom to recognize their names. So...presumably that means Clark has been active for a while now, right?
How long? Has he died? Are Lois and Clark married?

So...if she started out at the Daily Planet and did indeed work on the gossip column...what else from Cat Grant's days as a supporting player in the Superman titles can be carried over to this series?
Was she ever romantically involved with Morgan Edge, only to use that relationship to expose Intergang and become one of the Planet's best-respected reporters? What were her relationships with Lois, Clark and Jimmy like?
We're guessing she probably didn't struggle with her alcoholism in this version, since we see her drinking at a party in teasers for upcoming episodes.

A man who loses his family is unlikely to be totally stable.
Henshaw, we know, doesn't particularly like metahumans. So...what happened to make him that way?
In the comics, Henshaw survived -- ...ish... -- a space shuttle crash after being bombarded by radiation; his best friends and his wife all died as a result of the crash, either directly or indirectly. Could a version of this be his backstory?
In the comics, he blamed Superman, who showed up just slightly too late to save them...!

In the comics, Hellgrammite does have the ability to create essentially drone versions of himself by transforming ordinary people to weaker, subordinate versions of himself.
That's all well and good, but...this version of Hellgrammite didn't have red eyes. So...what's the deal?
Could the shot from Hellgrammite's talon have touched off a latent ability -- perhaps one that's more familiar to the comic book readers who know him as the Cyborg Superman? Certainly "glowing red eyes" say "cyborg" more than they do "bug guy" in most situations.
prevnextHOW MUCH KRYPTONITE IS THERE?
Did Henshaw just give up a major strategic advantage by surrendering a sample of Kryptonite when Astra took off?
There seems to be just a TON of Kryptonite in the world of Supergirl. They have Kryptonite cuffs, Kryptonite darts, low-grade Kryptonite lighting to bathe Kryptonians with...there's a lot.
We're guessing that will come in handy later on when they need to hold Astra and/or some of her people rather than killing them...but how much Kryptonite is there, and will it become a problem for Supergirl soon?
