Look and Find Cover

While it's incredibly rare that major plot points are revealed in young adult novelizations of popular films anymore, that doesn't stop hardcore fans from buying up every kids' book that comes along, looking for information that hasn't yet been released.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is no different, since the only thing people like better than taking to social media to complain about Star Wars being spoiled for them, is actually spoiling Star Wars for themselves.

Making Star Wars has a look at a new Star Wars look and find book, where a number of minor rumors (mostly assumed but not confirmed to be true) have been (apparently) confirmed.

A sampling:

  • Max von Sydow will play Lor San Tekka, who will put a message inside of BB-8, R2-D2 style, and send it off "into the night."
  • Maz is apparently Han's "old mentor," and Han hopes she can help them with their mission to return BB-8 to the Resistance, while Finn hopes to rescue Rey before the Resistance destroys the base.
  • Rey and BB-8 are captured on Takodana, during a battle between Leia's X-wing Squadrons and Captain Phasma's troops.
  • D'Qar is the planet the Resistance is stationed on. Han, Finn, and Chewie crash the Falcon into the Starkiller base.

...So is that the end of the Falcon? It sounds like this film will be full of callbacks to Star Wars, which is a choice that mirrors the way Creed was written recently. It worked well for them, but Star Wars is such a larger canvas (no boxing pun intended there) it's harder to picture just how it would fit together as nicely without seeming a lot of coincidence. That's likely all down to the execution, which means we'll know more in just under a month.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Max Von Sydow. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk are producing with Tommy Harper and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. The screenplay is by Lawrence Kasdan & J.J. Abrams and Michael Arndt.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on December 18, 2015.
