A short time ago, in this galaxy, Minions was among the top 10 highest grossing films of all-time. Not anymore.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has soared into the number 10 spot among the highest grossing films worldwide, surpassing Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and Minions, with $1.16 billion. Next in line: Iron Man 3. The movie hasn't even opened in China yet.

Domestically, Episode VII has hauled in $571.4 million after a $31.4 million Monday. By the end of the day, The Force Awakens will almost certainly be the fifth film in history to cross $600 million domestically, following in the footsteps of The Avengers, Jurassic World, Titanic, and Avatar.

Overseas, Star Wars pulled in $39.4 million on Monday, pulling its foreign total up to $589.7 million.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has already become the fastest film to gross $1 billion and has its sights set on Avatar's all-time worldwide record of almost $2.8 billion.
