Happy Birthday! Tom Baker Turns 82 Today

Happy birthday, Tom Baker! The actor is celebrating his 82nd birthday today.

Baker is best known for his legendary portrayal of the fourth incarnation of the Time Lord in the classic-era Doctor Who series. He recently appeared on a 50th anniversary Doctor Who special. The English actor has several other notable credits on his resumé, including the historic television icon, Sherlock Holmes, in the TV miniseries, The Hounds of Baskerville.

Prior to his acting fame, Baker studied to be a Roman Catholic monk from the ages of 15 to 21. He would go on to become the star of films such as The Golden Voyage of Sinbad and Nicolas and Alexandra for which he earned a Golden Globe nomination.
