For the first half of The Walking Dead's sixth season, Daryl Dixon was away from his core group of friends for seven straight episodes. For many of those episodes, we didn't even see the character at all. That's all going to change starting with The Walking Dead's return next weekend.

"We'll definitely have a steadier dose," Reedus tells EW about Daryl in season six's back half. "I look at what they're doing, and I look at the storylines, and they all completely make sense to me."

While Reedus doesn't know exactly what is to come way down the road on AMC's hit series, he firmly stands behind Scott Gimple's writing and the rest of the team's work, despite feeling a little left out at times. "I know the story we're trying to tell up to a certain extent, and there are a lot of characters, and I trust [showrunner Scott Gimple's] writing, and I trust his vision for where we're going," he says. "Yeah, it's a little hard to sit on the sidelines. Days I didn't work, I'd go to the set and just watch other people work, but it's definitely difficult just because I miss everybody and I love doing that job, so that makes it a little hard."

The Walking Dead returns from its midseason hiatus February 14 at 9 PM ET on AMC.
