Star Wars The Force Awakens was received incredibly well, and for Episode VIII anticipation levels are already building quite fast. It built fast during filming of Episode VII as well, so much so that there were more than a few fans who sent their own drones into the production areas to get new footage.

This time around the team behind Episode VIII is filming in Croatia, and they, in conjunction with the police and government of Dubrovnik Croatia, have a way to keep that from happening again. According to a report from MosCroatia.com (via Makingstarwars.net), there is a special team with drones that will, as they put it, "remove the uninvited drones so that no recording can be conducted by the public".

It will be a sky war over the set of Star Wars. Kind of funny how that worked out.

As for the ground, the report also says that about 600 guards will be surrounding the filming, so it looks like they are not leaving anything to chance. So much so that they evidently gave Dubrovnik about 4.3 million to make all this happen. Soon we will have to start factoring this kind of thing into production budget. How much did it cost to make? check. How much to market? check. How much to make sure no one sees it before they are supposed to? 4.3 million.
