Five Questions We Want Answered in Supergirl - Solitude
With only six episodes remaining this season, Supergirl still has plenty of questions that need [...]
Will Indigo Have a Connection to Braniac?
Eagle eyed readers may have noticed a distinctive symbol on Indigo's foreheads in the previews for "Solitude", a triangle of dots most associated with the Superman villain Brainiac. In the comics, Indigo is also known as Brainiac 8, one of Brainiac's descendants from the distant future. One of Brainiac's other descendants sent Indigo back in time to infiltrate the superhero community and assassinate Donna Troy, the first Wonder Girl. There's no Donna Troy in the Supergirl universe (that we know of), but that doesn't mean that Indigo doesn't have some sort of tie to Brainiac in the show.
Since the episode description teases there's a connection between Kara and Indigo, it's possible that Supergirl is using the "Krypton AI" version of Brainiac first introduced in Superman: The Animated Series. Could Indigo be a rogue robot from Krypton out for revenge against one of the planet's few survivors? And more importantly, could Brainiac himself somehow play a role in tonight's episode?
prevnextWhat is Myriad?
Two episodes ago, Non, Astra and the other Fort Rozz prisoners staged an multi-pronged attack to launch "Myriad", a mysterious plan to subjugate humanity. While Supergirl stopped Non from installing some sort of mysterious box on a satellite array, Astra managed to install and cloak her box shortly before her death. While Astra seemed to have second thoughts about Myriad, she died before she could tell Kara anything about Non's plans. Kara turned in Non's box to the DEO for analysis, so we might get some answers about what Myriad is in tonight's episode. Hopefully, Supergirl and the DEO get some answers before Non launches his attack in two weeks.
prevnextWill Jimmy Tell Lucy Supergirl's Secret Identity?
Jimmy Olsen's relationship with Lucy reached a crossroads last week when she discovered that Jimmy had a "special relationship" with Supergirl similar to his friendship with Superman. Lucy broke up with Jimmy in Metropolis because he put Superman before her, and she seemingly delivered an ultimatum to choose between his super-friend or his girlfriend.
However, Jimmy thinks he's found a way out of his relationship problems, but it requires him telling Lucy that Supergirl is actually Kara. Jimmy asked Kara last week for permission to tell Lucy, but Kara didn't give a clear answer one way or another. We'll find out this week whether Jimmy puts his relationship with Lucy first, or if he'll finally come to terms that he's actually in love with Kara.
prevnextWill Kara Find Out the Truth about Astra's Death?
Two weeks ago, we saw Alex Danvers plunge a kryptonite sword through Astra's back in order to save Martian Manhunter's life. However, J'onn took credit for the kill to save Alex's relationship with her adopted sister Kara. We saw the effects of that lie last episode, as Kara grew increasingly colder to J'onn before telling him that she couldn't work with him any longer. Since this is a television show, no lie ever goes unrevealed and it's only a matter of time before Kara finds out the truth about Astra's death. The real question is whether she'll give Alex the same cold shoulder she gave J'onn or whether she'll show some empathy towards her adopted sister.
prevnextWhat Version of the Fortress of Solitude Will We See?
Supergirl and Jimmy Olsen are visiting the Fortress of Solitude this week, but the real question is which Fortress we'll see on screen. Will it be the classic Golden Age Fortress, locked with a giant key that only Superman can open? Or will it be the Fortress seen in All-Star Superman, filled with impossible mementos and super-scientific equipment? Will the Supergirl universe's Fortress even be located in the Arctic? After all, Superman has built more recent versions of the Fortress of Solitude in the Amazon and the Andes Mountain.
Whichever version of the Fortress we get, be sure to keep an eye out for some Easter eggs from Superman lore. We could Superman's alien zoo, his memorial to his dead parents or even Krypto as Supergirl and Jimmy explore Superman's unofficial base of operations.
