Joe and Anthony Russo have a lot to keep track of with Avengers: Infinity War looming on the horizon, but first they're focused on getting Captain America: Civil War out for fans. Part of that meant revealing their take on Spider-Man, who now lives in the Marvel Cinematic Universe courtesy a new rights-sharing deal between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.

"We always intended to [reveal him in the trailer]," Joe Russo told Forbes. One half of the brotherly directing team said Spidey was his favorite character growing up. "We couldn't be more excited and we wanted to share that with everybody else."

Anthony Russo also admitted it "was a little bit of a correction" for fans. "We were very quiet about Spider-Man's involvement in the movie for much longer than we would have been." After the long business deal was finally complete, though, they were excited to share him with fans, at least in a limited sense.

"We thought it was a great way to reveal him," said Joe. "I think people are going to be happy with him in the movie; he's got a very interesting role in it."

Spider-Man debuts in Captain America: Civil War on May 6, 2016 before moving on to his own solo movie jointly produced by Sony and Marvel for a July 2017 release.
