Warners Bros. biggest movie of the year, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, has its sights set on a massive global opening at the box office.

The most recent estimated global total is $350 million on 35,000 screens. If the figure is correct, Batman v. Superman would be the second best Easter weekend debut, behind only last year's Furious 7 which hauled in $397.7 million. It was also the fourth best opening of all-time.

Dawn of Justice has been building hype for 32 months now. The film was first announced at San Diego Comic Con back in 2013 and dropped its first trailer over a year ago.

This year will prove to be the battle of the super heroes as DC characters finally line up to compete with those at Marvel Studios. Batman v. Superman gets the jump on Captain America: Civil War, which heads to theaters in May, but is only the second in the DC movie universe while Civil War is the 13th addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Batman v. Superman hits theaters this Friday.

  1. It's awesome we live in a world where upon hearing that BvS is standing to make 350 million opening weekend, I have to genuinely sit and think whether or not that would be in the ballpark of Deadpool's opening weekend. (Answer: Deadpool brought in 300 million within four days so I was close kinda)
