Aquaman Movie To Have Swashbuckling Spirit

A week ago, we knew next to nothing about the Aquaman solo film, aside from James Wan is going to direct it and Jason Momoa and Amber Heard will star in it. But over the past few days, we've learned that Aquaman will have a fun tone, sea monsters may appear, the story will continue from where it leaves off in Justice League, and its spirit will be that of a good old fashioned swashbuckler film.

"I would love to capture the fun spirit of high-sea adventures, treasure hunts, sea monsters," Wan told the L.A. Times. "That's the spirit that I'm going for. Swashbuckling."

Wan was also asked if Tusky — Aquaman's animal sidekick/Aqualad's pet — will appear in the film. To which he replied, "You'll find out." Well, at least it's not a flatout no. It'll take it!

Aquaman will swim into theaters July 27, 2018.
