The Flash and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had oddly parallel episodes Tuesday night. The Flash had less superpowers, while Agents had more powers than ever for the second week in a row. Both shows had challenges with leadership and shifting team dynamics, as well. They even both have major villains with a twisted sense of love.

But more importantly to the networks, both shows rose in the ratings!

The Flash ticked up from 1.2 to 1.3 in demographic ratings, and rose from 3.03 million total viewers to 3.37 million. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. came off a surprisingly low .9 last week, bouncing back to the 1.0, and jumping significantly from 2.85 million total viewers to a much more respectable 3.25 million.

Both series were already renewed for a 2016-2017 season, but the late-season episode ratings can affect things like episode orders, budgets, and sometimes even character or story decisions. With just a few episodes of both seasons left, it'll be interesting to see how they finish things off.
